For this week’s homework in Design Process I was challenged by my teacher to take a more realistic approach to my Evil Drag Queen character design after seeing my sketches from last week. I definitely learned a lot about how to render human anatomy and fabric, and ended up with an illustration that is probably the best I’ve ever painted so far :)

Swamp Monster Boy. He spends most of his days swimming along channels of lagoons and swamps, but always comes back to a particular lagoon where the love of his life can be found taking her afternoon swim. His father has always warned him never to get involved with humans because that resulted in the death of his grandfather. Regardless of warning, the boy goes to the lagoon every afternoon to stare at his love’s perfect set of legs bobbing in the water, trying to build up the courage to talk to her.

Going along with my modern day monsters series, here is a witch girl! Although very confident in herself, that can’t be said for how she feels about her newfound magical powers. Recently brought into the realm of magic, she is working hard to learn all she can and be the best witch she can be. However its going to take a while; potion making, spell casting, and broom riding don’t come naturally for her….but she’s still trying! She also has a thing for the color purple.

I’ve been doodling some modern day monsters and I think I might make them into a series. Here is my favorite so far. She is a ghost girl and is the epitome of a restless spirit. She is always worried about something, very anxious, and is constantly concerned about her appearance. She even carries around a pocket mirror to check her complexion….She misses the days when she could tan.
Environment a Day: Day 20
Into the Woods is my favorite musical in the entire world. I listened to the soundtrack today and was inspired to do a little illustration of it.
“Into the woods and out of the woods and home before dark”
Environment a Day: Day 19
This is pretty much me every time I go to the gym. All the guys are bigger then me, and I feel like I stand out as the only stick figure guy in the room. Everyone seems to know what they’re doing and how to do it….and I’m always uncertain that I’m doing my exercises correctly. But I won’t give up! I still go to the gym with the hope that I’ll one day be super buff haha!
Environment a Day: Day 18
I’ve been seeing improvements in my work these past couple of days, and its really exciting :) Continuing with my Village Boy/Spirit Animal story, here he is following his spirit guide, the stag, on the river alongside the forest.
Environment a Day: Day 16
The hut of a little tribal boy that lives on the edge of the forest. He is of the age where every little boy goes on his spiritual journey into manhood! The hut is a sort of halfway house between the village and the forest, where his journey will take place.
Environment a day: Day 15
ADVENTURE!!! A rickety old rope bridge that one always seems to need to cross whenever on a daring adventure!
Environment a Day: Day 14
An art deco/Grecian inspired dining room with a large feast on the table! I’m hungry….
